Isabella’s Bedroom Update

After moving into this house, I didn’t create a special space for Isabella. I just decided to put what I had from when she was a baby into this room. She was almost 1 year old so it was all her nursery stuff. I knew that I wanted to change her room into a “big girls” room so I waited a bit longer until she was able to move out of her crib to update her room.

What’s crazy is that I was working on the boys room first and all of a sudden I got the idea to put the bed that pulls out of Lucas’ bed into her room and get rid of her crib. When my husband rebuild the crib after moving, he damaged it and we were holding some pieces of it with tape! It was definitely a matter of time before we got rid of the crib.

Here is the Before:

After putting the bed in, I realized that I was just putting whatever decor I had up and it didn’t look warm and inviting. It was just a mess with toys everywhere. I emptied out her closer which was filled with a huge teddy bear and a bunch of old pillows. After getting rid of all the junk in there, I organized some of her toys in her closet and just left the two fabric bins out in her room.

Here is the After:

I was shopping around on Black Friday and found this beautiful tassel wall fixture that I fell in love with and I knew I had to buy it at the sale price. It was definitely more than I would ever spend on a lamp but I was so in love I had to.

I knew I wanted to place it over her side table so I had to move her room around a bit and create a different layout than what I had before. It looks perfect in the corner.

The large mirror is an old vanity mirror I had from my old apartment and I had the intentions of putting it in her room but never did until now. As I was about to hang it, I sat in on the dresser and really liked how it looked. My husband just grabbed some extra strength double sided tape and placed it on the bottom so it wouldn’t slide off the dresser. He also placed another piece on the top back of the mirror to hold it against the wall.

The pink dot sheets I had purchased at Target a while back thinking one day I would change her room and would use them.  I didn’t even think of a theme or color scheme. I just kinda winged it and bought them. So once I moved Lucas’ bottom bed in her room I had sheets to use.

The comforter was a cyber week find.  You can see the close up of the pattern in the picture above. Once she gets use to sleeping in a twin size bed, we will buy her a framed bed but for now, this works great.

I decided to keep the wall area above her bed plain until I buy her a new bed frame. I’m not sure what kind of bed frame I will buy or how high the headboard will be so for now, it’ll stay simple.

I will keep using the rug and curtains I currently have but I do plan on changing them out later on.

Giving a room a refresh doesn’t mean you have to buy everything new… you work with what you have and you incorporate some key pieces that make the room feel fresh and new.

Ana, I love the lamp! I feel that it’s ok to splurge on certain things for a room and save on others, it all works out! That nativity set it so adorable too! Such a lovely refresh ?

  2. Thanks so much Andrea. I totally agree and it was so worth it 🙂
