I’m Ana Isaza Carpio and welcome to Modern House Vibes! I created this blog to share a bit of my home with you and hopefully inspire you with your home. I’ve lived in Forest Hills, NY for most of my life. I graduated from Berkeley College with a Bachelors in Fashion Marketing and Merchandising in 2010. Years ago when I was applying for college, I wanted to become an interior designer but instead I went into Fashion Marketing and Merchandising (which I also love). Did I mention Rachel Green may have inspired me a bit with that choice.
As a teenager, I remember watching shows on TV that had to do with home decor and renovations, so it’s always been an interest of mine. I left my job at the age of 24 to become a wife and later a mother of 3, which put my career on hold. After living in different countries for 6 years due to my husbands career (airline captain), we moved back to New York and I slowly started getting into decorating my home. We’ve moved around a bit, so with every new apt/house we’ve lived in, I’ve tried to switch our decor. It’s crazy how changing new throw pillows or a rug can change the feel of a room.
My styles isn’t one specific. I love modern, clean lines and pops of color. My house is currently a mix of traditional pieces, contemporary and mid century modern. Lately I’ve been very inspired by the modern farmhouse style. I like mixing styles up as long as there is unity. Practical and functional pieces are very important to me because of my three young kids and maybe my husband too. What fascinates me the most is the interior structure of a home. The high ceilings with beams and interesting staircases with unique railings. An open concept space is just so warm and welcoming. I can go on and on…
