For the last 10 years, I’ve been hosting most holidays for family and friends. It’s so much work but when you have the perfect essentials for hosting, it makes hosting very easy. I try to buy enough of everything, especially when it’s on sale so I have enough for everyone.
Don’t get me wrong, I love hosting with my disposable plates sometimes (especially in the summer months) but for the holidays, I love to go all out and use all the pretty things I have. I have these simple yet practical diner and desert plates that come in holders… they are perfect for hosting. I easily pull them in and out of the cabinets with no problem. At the end of the day when it’s time to put it away, they go back in the holder and it’s so easy to clean up. I always have serving spoons and bowls for every occasion.
The most important part of every gathering (well at least for me) is the wine and the champs! I always have wine glasses and I love the look of stemless Champaign glasses so I have a few of those too. Want to take it to another level? Use brass utensils. I’m obsessed with brass utensils. They really make all the difference. And btw, there’s nothing wrong with mixing gold and silver utensils and serving utensils.
I love to set up my sideboard with everything I have so people can just grab and serve themselves. We don’t do a proper sit down dinner because my dining table isn’t big enough so we like to do buffet style.
