Backyard- Spring Refresh

I just love changing up a space with every season, wether it’s a small change or a larger change, it’s just so fun. So the backyard is no exception. We spend a large part of our day in the spring, summer and fall outside. The kids just love playing outdoors so it’s a space that I really wanted it to feel like an extension of our indoors.

I had some outdoor furniture (the table, bar cart and sofa) from when we moved into this house a couple years back and the bistro chairs and the stripe umbrella are from last summer but the space really needed some accessories to try to tie it all in together.

We bbq a lot and always host so I wanted to add some more seating to the yard. Below you can see what it looked like last year. It was really the base of it all and this year I just tried to put it all together by adding more accessories and making it feel like a living area but outdoors.

The area where I have the sofa and side chairs was not leveled and every time we sat down the furniture would wiggle. I recently lifted half of the pavers and leveled it out with dirt. It wasn’t as hard as I thought but it wasn’t easy either. I did have a hard time placing the pavers back and them fitting correctly but it worked out great and the floor is finally leveled for the furniture. On the corner I added some marble rocks and I plan to put something there.

I also added a striped rug that matches my striped umbrella. I just wonder how long it will last with all the dirt around the yard. I did power was the concrete in the entire yard before laying it down. Another addition this year was the fringed umbrella that I’m totally obsessed with. I recently showed a sneak peak f this space on Instagram and I received so many comments and messages about this umbrella so I know it’s your favorite too! I bought it on major sale and it sold out super fast. I had a coral one that I had for like 5 years and it was still in good condition and works great but it was faded.

I really wanted all the colors to go together because the house is a very pale yellow and I can’t change that. The fence is my neighbors fence so I can’t change that either. Keeping it neutral was important and you can’t go wrong with black and white and of course a pop of pink.

To finalize the look and make it a cozy and warm space, I added some throw pillows and some hanging lights. We have no lights out there so adding some lights will help when it starts getting dark out and we want to hang out outside in the evenings. I’m looking into a fire pit or fire column but I’m still shopping around. The little round birdhouse was just so cute I couldn’t pass it up.

These succulents are my favorite find! Adding plants and flowers really makes a difference inside your home and in your outdoor living space.

Hope this inspires you in any way!
