New Wall Art And Patching Up Old Holes

I’ve been looking into changing the wall art in my living room for a while now. This specific wall, is the wall that you walk into when you enter my house and the longest wall on the main floor. So it’s been a struggle to decorate it because a few months back, I wanted to create a gallery wall on one side (by the stairs) and an entry wall with a bench (by the front door). But once I sat on the couch and I looked at the wall, it just wasn’t cohesive and it always felt off.

For a few months now, I’ve been looking for wall art that matched and was a big enough size to create an impact on this very long wall. After searching and searching, I finally found these two modern pieces with natural colored frames. I even took advantage of a sale they were having. I honestly love how they look and the wall has the asymmetry that I was looking for. It really changed the feel of the entire wall.

These frames are 26×38 but I feel the pictures don’t really show how big they really are. I chose a natural colored frame since my walls are white and I wanted the frames to pop. I just love the blue and pink colors and they really brightened up the space. You can see the wall art HERE and HERE.

Repairing and Repainting the Wall

Since I had a lot of frames on each side of the walls, I had to patch up the holes and repaint the area. I usually keep THIS repair paste at home since I like to move wall art around. Sometimes, when I hang and don’t measure well, I have to patch up my mistakes (which happens if my husband isn’t helping me). My husband is really good at measuring the walls and figuring out exactly where the holes should go but I just wing it. I kind of eye ball where it should go and it sometimes works great and other times I have to slightly move the nail half an inch or so.

As I hung these frames I winged it, yet I measured. I needed to calculate how far apart the frame was from the TV stand and how far from the ceiling so they would be even on both sides. I did measure from the ceiling down but winged the distance from the tv.

I have left over paint from when we first painted the house so I let the patching paste dry and then I paint over it. With this paint, I can’t see the difference between the new paint and the old paint as many people are worried that it may show or leave streaks. I wish I could share with you guys what paint it is but the paint dripped on the outside and I can’t see the name or color. I just know that it’s Behr paint from Home Depot.

Now that I learned how to patch up the holes, I’m not afraid of making new holes. I know many of us are afraid of that. Sometimes we tend to replace wall art on the same spot just so we don’t make another hole but moving wall art around is such a simple way to give your walls a refresh.

What do you guys think?
