Decorating With Wall Planters

After hanging the chair in the living room, I felt like the wall behind it was incomplete. It just felt like something was missing and the wall was too bare. I have the large wall art over the sofa, so I didn’t want to add another art piece to the space. I thought woven wall hanging would be nice there but I couldn’t find one I liked. Then a light bulb came on in my head and I thought plants! I’ve been obsessed with them either way so it was only natural lol.

At first, I thought of putting a floating shelf and display plants on it. If you follow my instagram stories, I shared a couple of weeks ago my inspiration with a very (non) creative picture of what I was picturing. I got a lot of great feedback and so many people voted for the plant shelf but as I started shopping around and looking for inspiration online, I found some pictures of wall planters.

Once I found the wall planters I liked, it took me two trips to Home Depot to find the right plants. I really hit the jackpot this past weekend because they had just brought in new plants. The wall planters came in a set of 6 and I had already planned how I wanted to lay them out on the wall. Once my husband started hanging the top 3, I was so happy with how simple it looked so I didn’t add all 6. As the plants grow, they will fill up the space more and it will look even fuller.

I found a Camille (very similar to a pathos but more yellow), a Bear’s Pawn Fern and two Trailing Silver Philodendrons including the one under the mirror. I did buy two more plants for the remaining pots but I have yet to find a spot for them. Maybe I’ll hang them in the bathroom or my bedroom.

After hanging the three planters, I thought about adding one to the entry bench area to balance out the Hola sign. I did swap the Hola sign to the left and added the little plant pot to the right. Just felt like it was a better layout. We also added this hanging Pothos and it really completed this space. I still need to find a white planter for it since it came in that dark cream plastic pot.

The set came with hardware and instructions on how to fill the pots with charcoal for drainage. The charcoal was even included in the kit. I bought plants that came in 3-4″ pots and just slid them in and skipped the re-potting steps. They fit right in and I can easily take out the plants to water them in the kitchen and allow them to drain in the sink. I can also swap out the plants easily if I want to swap out some plants.

Over all, I really like how it looks. What do you guys think? let me know in the comment section below.
